Water Quality
Guidelines
Success with any aquatic system supporting fish depends on good
water quality. Attributes of poor water quality are pH, ammonia,
nitrite, dissolved oxygen levels and overly fluctuating water
temperatures.
|
Desired Water Parameters
• Hardness: 100-300 ppm
• Dissolved Oxygen: 8 ppm @ 70ºF • pH: 7.2 to 8.3 • Temperature: 65º to 80ºF
• Salinity: .1% to .25% • Ammonia: Less than .5 ppm • Nitrite: Less than .25 ppm |
Pond Salt
• 99% pure-made from evaporated seawater • Reduces fish stress • Additional electrolytes • Improves disease recovery • Enhances fish’s natural slime coating • Superior to table salt (sodium chloride) for maximum
effectiveness
Salt is essential for fish health. Koi and goldfish need
salt to control their electrolyte balance. Salt also
maintains the natural slime coating fish need to fight
off fungus and disease. Use one to two pounds per 100
gallons of pond water under normal conditions. Use three
pounds per 100 gallons when treating for disease. 2%
salt will not harm most plants. Lotus will not tolerate
any salt.

Premium Activated Carbon
Activated
carbon has long been used for filtration media when
super clean water is desired. Carbon has the natural
ability to absorb high amounts of organic solids and
will also absorb medications used on fish. Activated
carbon has also been shown to have the ability to remove
tannins that cause “tea-colored” water. Use
approximately 1½ cupfuls for every 100 gallons of pond
water. Replace carbon every four to five weeks as
needed.

Defoamer
Foam is a common problem in many water features. Excess
protein in the water leads to bubbles being formed by
splashing water. EasyPro defoamer is a silicone based
product that prevents foam bubbles from forming and will
instantly remove surface foam that is present when added to
your pond. Foam is not only unsightly but also increases the
oxygen demand on the pond.
Safe with all types of fish and plants. Defoamer is most
commonly used on live haul trucks but can be used in any
fresh or salt water system where foam can build up due to
splashing water. |

Aqua-Blue Pond Dye
EasyPro’s premium pond dye will help filter out sunlight as
well as give pond water a pleasing “natural blue”
appearance. Dye will not stain or harm fish, plants or other
wildlife once dispersed in water.
• Will not affect bacteria action or algae controls
• Super Concentrated formula - use one ounce per 1000 gallons of
water!• Each
container treats 16,000 gallons of water. |

Pond-Vive
The natural, biological way to revive your pond.
Our special blend of bacteria is designed to:
• Reduce sludge buildup • Eliminate pond odors • Improve
water clarity
• Reduce oxygen demand • Eliminate excess nutrients
Pond-Vive is a blend of specialized
bacteria, formulated specifically for the task of lake
and pond maintenance. Pond-Vive contains specialized
bacterial strains as well as other necessary ingredients
needed to support these bacterial strains in a lake or
pond setting. Our unique blend of bacteria accomplishes
a number of very specific tasks. Certain bacterial
strains specialize in the removing of excess ammonia,
nitrates and phosphorus from the water. These excess
nutrients, if not removed, can stimulate nuisance
aquatic growth. Other strains focus on clarifying the
murky water caused from animal and plant wastes, while
simultaneously reducing or eliminating the odors
stemming from those wastes. Still other strains target
the reduction of sludge on the bottom of lakes and
ponds. Pond-Vive bacteria should only be used when the
water temperature is above 55º.

|
~ Dosage Rates ~
Ponds treated with Pond-Vive are treated based on
surface size — not depth. Because the bacteria works
along the bottom of the pond the depth does not matter.
Initial Dose - 12 pounds per acre (or 24 eight
oz. bags)
Maintenance Dose - Every Two Weeks - 6 pounds
per acre (or 12 eight oz. bags)
|
We have thousands of satisfied
customers who have seen a definite improvement in water quality
using Pond-Vive! This
product works great!
Ponds treated with Pond-Vive are typically treated every two
weeks. Ponds that are really dirty can be treated more
often, or at a higher dose to speed up the cleaning process
without any threat to fish or other aquatic life. |

RESTRICTED PLANTS:
Some states have bans on certain pond plants. Check the
USDA Noxious Plants website
prior to purchase. The buyer needs to beware of any regulations
on plants that may be restricted. If your order gets confiscated
by your state agriculture department we cannot be held responsible.
CLIMATE VARIATIONS:
We guarantee our plants will arrive alive and healthy. Pond Plants
grow differently depending on where you live. If you took pond plants
of the same type, and planted them in different parts of the USA,
each plant would grow differently. This is Mother Nature at work.
We cannot guarantee that your climate will support long term growth
as this varies by location. With experience you will find which
pond plants thrive in your
USDA Zone. Join our
Pond, Watergarden
and Plant Forum and ask some questions before you buy
is the best advice we can give you.
SUBSTITUTIONS: We
reserve the right to substitute similar plants of equal or greater
value unless you specifically request otherwise in the remarks section
of your order. This happens almost never though, and if it does
happen it is usually in regard to floating and submerged oxygenation
plants.
