How often does the list re-rank and reset?
The list re-ranks the votes every 15 minutes and resets the whole list back to zero on a random cycle & starts all over. This makes the list fair for new members and weeds out inactive or non-participating sites.
What do the "Rank", "Prev", "In", and "Out" numbers mean?
"Rank" is the site's current position on the list. "Prev" is the site's position last week. "In" is how many votes the site currently has. "Out" is how many people clicked on the site's link while looking at the Top 100 list.
Can anyone add their website to the Top 100 list?
No. In order to join the Top 100 Pond, Koi and Watergardens, your site must meet the following guidelines:
"Your website must focus primarily on Ponds, Watergardens, Aquaculture and Koi. This means if your website's main attraction is anything other than that (such as links to dating websites, porn or get rich quick schemes), your site will be rejected when we review the list periodically. We reserve the right to reject or delete any website we find not to have valuable content in the related field. Your website must be viewable in the English language."
We gladly accept websites that are hobby clubs, retail outlets, picture galleries, message forums and other websites of that nature.
Why should I send my traffic away from my website and to the Top 100 list?
The old saying of "All traffic in and no traffic out" is a lame concept. Top 100 lists are very popular as they recycle traffic between us all. Just by having your website on this list will give you extra points for search engine relevance when your website gets spidered next time! Search engines count related website links very high when they add up points. This Top 100 list is a totally fair and equitable way to cross-promote and get new visitors to see what you have to offer. It is virtually impossible to cheat this software. It is the best currently available and makes sure that you don't get screwed over.
How do I add my related site to the list?
Simply click on the "Add Your Site" link and complete the registration form. You will be provided with html code which must be inserted somewhere on your website. This allows your visitors to vote for you. The more noticeable the link, the more votes you will receive. You can also use one of the banners we have that can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of the Top 100 list. Simply copy the banner to your hard drive and upload it to your website. I do not have a standard 468 X 60 pixels .gif or .jpg banner. Can I still join?
Yes. A banner URL is not required. If you do not have a banner, leave this field blank when registering. However, a banner gets more traffic to your website.
Ok, I've registered my site but its not showing up on the list.
Make sure you added the proper html or 'link" on YOUR site. If you need the html code again, click on "Edit Your Account" and select "Get link syntax". This will provide you with the proper html code for your site. Also, remember to wait at least 15 minutes for your site's votes to be counted and listed at the next automatic re-ranking.
Why is my banner not displayed?
Only the Top 15 sites get their banner displayed. The "Site of the Moment" randomly selects and displays a member's site (no matter what position) every 15 minutes so even if you are not in the top 15 your website will get top billing during the day several times. If your site has a banner, make sure the banner URL ends with .jpg or .gif such as this: http://www.yoursite.com/banner.gif If your link to your banner is put into the registration area wrong it will not show up!
How do I remove my site from the Top 100 list?
Simply remove the html code from your site that goes to the Top 100 list and your site will drop of the list on the next full reset. If your site is not listed for 5 consecutive weeks, it will be deemed "inactive" and deleted from the member data base. After that, you must re-register if you wish to re-join the list.
Cheating.
Every Top 100 member wants to be Number 1 (or at least in the top 15). The best advice I can give is to place your voting button where everyone can see it. As your site grows in popularity, so will the number of votes you receive. We reserve the right to suspend or cancel any member's account who is caught cheating to raise their vote count. This includes automatic voting programs installed on your site, multiple votes from the same IP address in a short period of time (including the use of IP address changing websites), and "tricking" visitors to vote for you (ie: placing a link on your site that says one thing, but gives you a vote on the Top 100 list instead).
