I am a 65 yr old retired lady with a passion for watergardening. I started growing water lilies in 1981. And it wasn't untill 2000 that I got my first tropical water lily from a friend I met on the internet. Well that first 2 tropicals hooked me even more. Now I am really obsessed. Buy the way that friend and I have been good friends for 12 yrs now. Besides water lilies I love tropical plants. Here is a pic of one of my water gardens

Yes I have koi and subunkins and goldfish and mosquito fish. I have 10 watergardens altogether. Out of the 10 five are raised. We make vegetable filters for our bigger ponds. They help keep the big koi alive. In some ponds we run 2 filters and a vegetable filter. Everything is homemade. I have some koi over 19 inches. And I do not fuss with my koi. No water changes no chemicals. I use koi clay and top ponds off. I hardly ever loose a koi or goldfish, knock on wood. I have lost them when they jump out and I don't find them in time to save them. I have many tubs and I put mosquito fish in every water garden and tub here.

Thats great! It sounds like you've created yourself a nice little ecosystem. I have alway thought the more natural we make our ponds the better. I'm sure the plants are playing a big role in keeping your pond healthy! You've got my curiousity going now! Please post more pictures!

Your plants are all very healthy! And you have Lambs Ear...I love Lambs Ear! Do you have any experience with the Corkscrew Rush? I'm wintering it this year for the first time...just curious to see if it makes it.

I have had corkscrew rush but don't have it now. I have run out of room in ponds and have had to resort to pop up ki ddy ponds. Some of the reasons are the koi.

Im sure the koi were in heaven munching on all those greens! So do you have each plant in individual pots or are they just rambling all over the bottom of the pool? They look so thick & lush...thats what leads me to think they are rambling like the do in my earth pond.

Some people just have the "touch" when it comes to plants. Apparently Vickie has that gift. Everything is so lush and green. I bet it smells great out there sitting in on a bench sipping coffee or tea.
