Okay, you have done a lovely job. I am curios about the plants among the rocks, I am putting in a new pond as we speak and would love to be able to duplicate the feel of yours.

Thanks for your kind words. The plants among the rocks are Sedum. They can grow up to 12 inches and have lovely small pink flowers. There is also Watercress (bog plant) that grows vigorously and covers the rocks as well as the water surface. I will post some up to date photos tomorrow.

Thanks Paul, I just got a Lotus from pondkoi website. It is right now floating in the pond. I won't plant it until I see some sprouts growing. I have heard that Lotus is not tolerant to any salt. My pond has less than 1% salt in it, I hope it doesn't kill the Lotus! If it survived the next question is were to put it. I am thinking of putting it in the middle of the pond where the rest of Lilies are. What do you think?

Do you mean 1 percent or .1 percent? If it is 1 whole percent then that is way too high. The salt level should be no more than .18 percent for a pond with plants and koi. If you just have koi then you can go as high as .30 percent for treating parasites.
The lotus will get very big if it survives the salt, really big.. so I would put it in the middle.
By the way, from the look of your other plants I think the salt content is OK.

Sorry my bad. I meant 0.1%. Do you think Lotus can handle that? By the way my Lotus is semi dwarf (Lavender first lady). Do you think it is too big for my pond size?

I think you have a good chance at .1 percent or less. You should be fine with the smaller sized lotus. If it overwhelms your pond you can move it to the side of the pond as long as the roots stay wet you will be fine a couple inches under the water.

Sounds great. I will pray for my Lotus very night! By the way, the key to keeping the water clear and algae free was aeration. The water is not still crystal clear and has a nice tea color but I am super happy with it. Especially that the Ammonia and Nitrite reading are 0. And I have no plan to do any spring water change/cleaning, thanks to Sludge-away. It is a miracle.

Thank you so much for the info. I have ordered 24 sedum and several packets of watercress seeds ( which apparently are not difficult to grow).

Yes, mine is reddish pink. I think it is called Dragon's Blood creeping Sedum. --mandana
