MassKoi are you sure you didnt just have a deicer? a heater will get hot and melt 1/2 the pond open. It costs a little more to run about the same as the pump in summer, but works 100% better than the deicer.

not sure what to call it. It a round doughnut shaped heater that keeps a hole in the ice if it's not too cold or snowy.

Thats a deicer...get a pond heater its a round thing also but keeps 1/2 the pond open.

GO to menards in the plumbing section they have ice thawers heaters 22.00 that will keep a huge opening in the pond. they float and look just like the pond ones.

I've tried heron everyway I can think of. Baked, bbq'ued, smoked....no matter what, it still tastes 'fishy'....
