If you plan on building a pond or waterfall a pond skimmer is a must. Not only do they skim leaves, from the surface of your pond, they protect your water pump from clogging with leaves, algae and other debris that will lead to premature pump failure. They also hide all your plumbing lines and fittings making for a more natural looking pond or water feature.

Filter Brushes - Best Choice!

Filter brushes reduce cleaning frequency and are less restrictive so pumps are less likely to run low on water. Shown at left without debris net (included). Brushes are very effective at removing solids from water while allowing water to flow freely into pump chamber.

36 Watt UV Option for PS1 Skimmers
Installation Instructions

This UV option is easy to install in both new and existing skimmers and will help keep your water crystal clear. The UV divider simply slides down into the skimmer in place of the PVC rack that is included with the PS1FB. Remove the PVC rack and discard. Slide the UV divider frame into the same slots with the rounded side of the rack facing towards the pump (see photo below). The cord from the UV goes over the top lip of the skimmer and over to your electrical supply.

The transformer on the end of the power cable should be hung off the ground but is weatherproof so no further protection from the weather is needed. It is weatherproof but it is not waterproof, and is not to be submerged in water!

A UV is effective by emitting intense light which kills algae cells as they pass by the light.

If the water is moving by the light to fast it will not provide enough contact time with the light to be effective.

Therefore, while the PS1FB skimmer can handle flows up to 100 GPM it is best when using the UV option you do not exceed 60 GPM of flow. At flow rates higher than 60 GPM the effectiveness will diminish.

The bulb in the UV will typically last for twelve months of use. The bulb can be easily replaced when needed. The quartz sleeve around the bulb keeps water from contacting the bulb.

Over time this sleeve can become coated with minerals and buildup from the water. Carefully remove the sleeve and clean as needed to ensure the light rays are not blocked by this buildup.

*The UV Upgrade comes with a fresh bulb and a new glass sleeve to keep the UV bulb in. Replacements are available below.

RESTRICTED PLANTS: Some states have bans on certain pond plants. Check the USDA Noxious Plants website prior to purchase. The buyer needs to beware of any regulations on plants that may be restricted. If your order gets confiscated by your state agriculture department we cannot be held responsible.

CLIMATE VARIATIONS: We guarantee our plants will arrive alive and healthy. Pond Plants grow differently depending on where you live. If you took pond plants of the same type, and planted them in different parts of the USA, each plant would grow differently. This is Mother Nature at work. We cannot guarantee that your climate will support long term growth as this varies by location. With experience you will find which pond plants thrive in your USDA Zone.
