What is a
herbicide? It is a chemical designed for killing or
inhibiting the growth of plants.
-
Any herbicide
is potentially dangerous if not used following the
directions provided by the manufacturer. Store them away
from children and pets!
-
Herbicides are
put in two categories:
-
The following
products are specialty water treatments that control a wide
variety of aquatic plants. While the purchase price initially
appears high, the fact that they treat a wide range of plants
(often eliminating the need for multiple chemicals) and the fact
that they often provide multiple year control, makes them the
best choice in many applications.

Hydrothol |
| - |
This granular is a fast
acting, contact herbicide effective on a variety of
aquatic weeds including milfoil, coontail, hydrilla,
sago pondweed, leafy pondweed, curly leaf pondweed and
others. Hydrothol should only be used for spot treating.
Use Aquathol, below, early in the season when plants are
young and easier to treat. Slight water restrictions.

Aquathol Super K |

herbicide utilizes Culigel® super absorbent
polymer technology. Aquathol Super K is six times more
concentrated than regular Aquathol. This means less
product to handle, less labor to apply and reduced
container disposal. Excellent for spot treatment of
hydrilla, pondweed and Eurasian milfoil.
Dosage rate is variable according to plant species.
Available in granular form in 10 pound and 25 pound
containers or in 2.5 gallon liquid form.

Reward Concentrated |
| - |
A concentrated aquatic
herbicide that’s been proven on a wide variety of
aquatic plants including milfoil, cattails, duckweed,
pondweed and others. This liquid herbicide is applied by
sprayer and should not be applied to turbid waters.
There is very little risk of environmental damage since
Reward’s concentration rapidly decreases as it is
absorbed into the aquatic vegetation.
Reward is a restricted use pesticide in the state of
Michigan. A copy of your pesticide applicators license
must be faxed to us before we can sell to anyone in
Michigan. All other states are not restricted and can be
shipped without certification. Application rate is one

Sonar and Avast |
Sonar is a specialty
herbicide that controls almost all aquatic weeds. Sonar
should be applied early in the season, prior to or just
after plant growth begins. Very effective on duckweed
and milfoil. Treatments last for several seasons in many
cases. Sonar is absorbed by the plants and inhibits the
weed’s ability to make food, causing it to die. Initial
results can be seen in ten days. Complete kill can take
30 to 90 days depending on plants.

RESTRICTED PLANTS:
Some states have bans on certain pond plants. Check the
USDA Noxious Plants website
prior to purchase. The buyer needs to beware of any regulations
on plants that may be restricted. If your order gets confiscated
by your state agriculture department we cannot be held responsible.
CLIMATE VARIATIONS:
We guarantee our plants will arrive alive and healthy. Pond Plants
grow differently depending on where you live. If you took pond plants
of the same type, and planted them in different parts of the USA,
each plant would grow differently. This is Mother Nature at work.
We cannot guarantee that your climate will support long term growth
as this varies by location. With experience you will find which
pond plants thrive in your
USDA Zone. Join our
Pond, Watergarden
and Plant Forum and ask some questions before you buy
is the best advice we can give you.
SUBSTITUTIONS: We
reserve the right to substitute similar plants of equal or greater
value unless you specifically request otherwise in the remarks section
of your order. This happens almost never though, and if it does
happen it is usually in regard to floating and submerged oxygenation
plants.
